1999 Anniversary Trip - October 26th
Today we drove out of Buffalo and went east about 50 miles to Letchworth State Park. It is located along a small river and is about 20 miles long. The river through the park contains 3 falls two of which we viewed. After leaving the park we drove back and turned in the van and were dropped back off at the airport for our return back home. We arrived back in the Twin Cities about 11pm.
Early this morning we hear tons of sirens. When we got up and were eating breakfast we saw the news on the TV and were startled to hear of a big accident involving a gravel truck and a metro bus. The on the TV was the street out front of our motel. Here is a picture as they were moving the gravel truck only 50 feet down the road. Unfortunately the drive of the bus ended up dieing.

Here are some photos of Letchworth State Park, and us there.

You can see in the last two pictures how large the dam appears to the river running through the park. At the observation point for the dam was a sign telling of its construction. Apparently when a hurricane went through the area about 10 years back there was so much rain that it totally filled up the valley right to the top of the dam!
